So much to say, San Jose

Yesterday we headed into downtown San Jose to look about. We found a park and walked to a mall part where it was kinda like a square, we were approached by people handing the kids corn to feed the birds and Dani was right into it. Boston was a bit wary after seeing them all swoop in on Dani and land on her head.

The outside mall was a interesting place, it was also quite busy as they were gearing up for a gay pride parade down the streets of Costa Rica. There were rainbow flags everywhere.

Down the mall vendors were selling their wares all down the mall which they are not really allowed to do but as the police come near they quickly pack up and move along. There were also fruit vendors and vendors selling lotto tickets, many many many people calling out for you to buy the lotto.

LOTTO there are lotto sellers everywhere on the street. Apparently the lotto is drawn every night. People with little booths calling out the numbers they have for the lotto. It appears Costa Rica is a pretty big gambling place there are pokies and other gambling things on all around. (Grandma)

We headed off to look at where Richard and Iveth used to work. And where he used to live and a tour around San Jose.

I need to talk about the small pop up little stores all around Costa Rica, so if you want too you can open a store in the front of your home as long as you  pay your taxes. We noticed there was one right across from Iveths parents house and the kids were keen to explore it.

What happens that people decide to say for example cook meals or run a small restaurant or hair salon or anything really from the front of their home they are allowed and have just to get permission of neighbors to sign that they are allowed to do so. No red tape. So basically you can do most of your shopping in these small stores.

So eat your heart out. Food is very cheap here. We constantly are surprised at how cheap a meal is when eating out or how much something is in the super market. All these little stores mean that prices are kept low and you are not stuck with the price because there is no where else to go.
